Less than an hour from London
Hampton CourtA magnificent palace built by a succession of Kings from Henry VIII onwards. Given to the public by Queen Victoria it boasts a succession of exquisite rooms, medieval kitchens, the famous maze, 'real tennis' courts and beautiful gardens.
The palace is less than 5 minutes from Hampton Court station, which is 30 minutes from Waterloo. You can also take a boat trip there which takes about 3 1/2 hours. You may want to also have a picnic in nearby Bushey Park.

Cambridge
A unique old university town with over 30 colleges, dating back to the 13th century. A visit here is the ideal way to experience tradition and history - as well as rubbing shoulders with the ‘biggest brains in the world’.
About 45 minutes by train. Worth a whole day. Some colleges charge a small admission fee.

Brighton
Georgian seaside town, famous for its meandering 'Lanes' - a royal playground. Not really the place to get a sense of 'Olde England' - but a better bet for shopaholics - a large jewellery sector. 1 hour train ride from London Bridge. You can also explore the 'White Cliffs' coastline from here.

Windsor Castle
The largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, is one of the official residences of Her Majesty The Queen. The Castle's dramatic site encapsulates 900 years of British history. It covers an area of 26 acres and contains, as well as a royal palace, a magnificent chapel and the homes and workplaces of a large number of people.

Home to our sister School, Stafford House Canterbury, this ancient city is less than an hour train journey from St Pancras Station and is home to a world-famous cathedral, two castles, eight museums and some excellent shopping.

Known as the City of Dreaming Spires for its impressive architecture, Oxford is around 1.5 hours from London by train. With an academic history dating back over 800 years, this city is worth a visit.
