Your journey with Stafford House
From the moment you book your course to the day you return home, we are here to support you every step of the way. Studying abroad can feel exciting — and sometimes a little overwhelming — but our team will make sure your experience is smooth, rewarding and unforgettable.
Your Journey step by step
-
1. Confirmation of your course
Once we receive your application and required documents, our admissions team will review your booking.
Within a few days, you will receive:
- Confirmation of your course
- A letter of invitation (if required for your visa application)
Our team will remain available if you need support with your travel planning.
-
2. Online English level test
Before your course begins, you will complete an online English placement test. Sometimes this is mandatory before sending the course confirmation. If you are applying for a Professional Course or an IELTS preparation course, we will need to make sure your English level is enough to join the course.
-
3. Preparing for your journey
As your start date approaches, it’s time to prepare for your trip to the UK.
A few simple tips:
- Make sure your passport and visa documents are ready
- Keep important documents in your hand luggage
- Do not pack important documents in checked baggage
- Save the school’s emergency contact number
- Check your accommodation arrival details
- Don’t forget to bring your laptop or tablet to access the digital materials provided by the school.
Travelling to another country can feel exciting and unfamiliar — but remember, thousands of students arrive in the UK every year for the same experience.
-
4. Create your student profile
-
5. Your first day at school
Your first day may feel a little overwhelming — and that’s completely normal. You will meet new classmates from around the world, discover a new city and begin communicating in English every day. Our team will welcome you, introduce you to the school and help you settle in.
Firstly, you will receive an introduction to life in the UK. Our priority is to keep everyone safe and well. We are a school for adults, so we do not have a lot of rules. However, it is important to understand the culture of the school and what you can / cannot do in the UK.
After that, they will introduce you to life in the school. You will take a tour to become acquainted with the school, our activities, and all the useful local amenities in the local area.
Later on, you will have an academic induction to understand what to expect from your lessons and what we expect from you! You will also access your digital coursebook.
Finally, you will sign up for your Student Portal and Teams. In the first one, you will get access to your lesson timetable, your attendance, and academic reports. You can also sign up for activities. The second one is to communicate with your classmates and teacher, as each class has its own Team.
Within a few days, what felt new and unfamiliar will quickly become part of your daily routine.
The most important thing is to stay open, curious and ready to learn!

6. Lessons and support throughout your stay
In the first few days, you will receive your digital learning materials. You will have personal access to the materials for up to 1 year.
Every lesson starts by telling you what topic you are going to study, and at the end of each lesson is a speaking exercise. This will help you to practise what you have learnt. This will also help you to explore using your English in real-world situations.
Each week, your teacher will prepare a test based specifically on what you have studied from your coursebook. This will assess your achievement of the learning goals and show your progress in the different skills. This will help you to identify learning goals for the following week.
In addition to the personalised guidance your teachers give you, you will meet monthly with one of our senior academic staff for a tutorial. This provides additional one-to-one support to review your progress and to ensure you are on track to achieve your academic goals.
-
7. Your social life
We offer a wide range of activities in our social programme, with something available every day. You can also join one of our weekend excursions. We will take you to visit other UK cities, where you’ll have the chance to explore and enjoy the sights they have to offer.
Our activities encourage students to extend their knowledge of English beyond the classroom by bridging the gap between the classroom and the world outside.
We want to ensure that our social programme is affordable and available to all our students, so we make certain we have at least 3 FREE activities a week in all our centres.
-
8. Autonomous learning for when you’re back home
We help every student at Stafford House continue their studies outside the classroom and when they return home. We also teach you how to record new vocabulary. Our teachers will show you how to organise your notes and how to research topics on the internet.
When you leave Stafford House, we want you to continue to improve your English, and we will show you how to do it.
