DELTA Module 1 – Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources
DELTA Module 1 focuses on extending your knowledge and understanding of English language teaching in a range of contexts. This is a theory-based module and does not include teaching practice.
Module 1 covers six core areas:
- Theoretical perspectives on language acquisition and language teaching
- Teaching approaches and methodologies, including current developments
- Language systems and learners’ linguistic problems
- Language skills and learners’ problems
- Resources, materials and reference sources for language learning
- Key assessment concepts and terminology
This module is suitable for teachers who already hold a CELTA or equivalent qualification and have classroom teaching experience.

- 10 February – 14 April 2026
- 1 September – 3 November 2026
Schedule: Ten Tuesday evenings, 18:30–21:00 (online via Zoom)

DELTA Module 2 – Developing Professional Practice
DELTA Module 2 focuses on developing your practical teaching expertise and professional awareness. You will deepen your understanding of lesson planning, classroom practice, learner needs and professional development.
Key areas include:
- The language learner and learning context
- Lesson preparation and teaching
- Selecting and using teaching resources
- Managing and supporting learning
- Observing and evaluating lessons
- Professionalism and ongoing development
Assessment includes a portfolio of coursework, five assignments, four Language Systems Assignments (LSAs), and a professional development assignment. Teaching practice is observed and assessed within your own workplace.
Module 2 – Requirements
- CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL qualification
- Minimum of two years’ teaching experience
- English language level C1/C2
- You must be currently teaching, as your teaching practice will be assessed with your own students
Module 2 – Course details
Face-to-face full-time (8 weeks):
6 April – 29 May 2026
Online (8 months):
16 September 2026 – 12 May 2027 (includes a two-week break over Christmas)
Course price: £1950 + £187 Cambridge assessment fee
DELTA Module 3 – Extending Practice and ELT Specialism
DELTA Module 3 focuses on needs analysis, syllabus design, course planning and assessment within a chosen specialism. This module is assessed through a written assignment and does not include teaching practice.
You can choose from a wide range of ELT specialisms, including Business English, CLIL, EAP, ESP, exam preparation, online teaching, one-to-one teaching, and teaching in multilingual or monolingual contexts.
Module 3 – Course details
DELTA Module 3 is a flexible, self-paced programme with no fixed start dates. We recommend allowing approximately 12 weeks for completion.
Support includes:
- Two one-to-one Zoom tutorials (up to 30 minutes each)
- Detailed written feedback on each section
- Comprehensive feedback on a full second draft
