CELTA in Action

Course formats 

We offer flexible study options so you can choose the format that best fits your schedule.

  • Full-time CELTA (online or in-school): A 4-week intensive course with a minimum of 120 hours of learning and teaching practice.
  • Part-time CELTA (online): Evening and weekend study over 6–13 weeks.
  • Part-time CELTA (in-school): Face-to-face evening and weekend classes over 12 weeks. 

Course content

The CELTA course combines theory and practice to prepare you for real classroom teaching.

  • 120 contact hours

  • 6 hours of assessed teaching practice

  • 6 hours of observation of experienced teachers

  • Input sessions on methodology and teaching practice

  • Four written assignments

  • A minimum of 80 additional learning hours for reading, research and lesson preparation


    • Course content and assessment are the same for online and face-to-face CELTA courses.

Our online CELTA courses lead to the same certification as face-to-face CELTA programmes. Training is delivered via live online sessions using Zoom, alongside a Cambridge-approved Moodle learning platform. You will complete real teaching practice with learners, supported by experienced CELTA tutors.

Full-time Online CELTA

  • Duration: 4 weeks
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30–17:30 (UK time)
  • Minimum of 120 contact hours
  • An intensive, immersive format for those who want to qualify quickly 
     

Part-time Online CELTA

  • Duration: 10–12 weeks
  • Evening and weekend teaching practice sessions
  • Flexible self-study modules completed in your own time
  • Ideal for trainees balancing work, study or personal commitments
