Accommodation

Where you live is key to your happiness and academic success. Whether you prefer the independence of a student residence or the familiarity of homestay, our accommodation options are chosen to offer you the flexibility of choice and quality you deserve.

Homestay Accommodations

Living with a family is an excellent way to really experience American traditions and culture. It’s also a perfect opportunity to practice your English language skills with real Americans every day.

If you choose our homestay option, you will stay with a family in the Bay Area. We have carefully checked and interviewed them and we trust them to provide you with a great stay! You can choose to have a single room, or share a room with another student. Families provide 14 meals per week (breakfast and dinner). Most host families are located within 40-60 minutes of Stafford House Centers by public transportation.

Please note: You must give at least four weeks notice before you arrive so we can make sure your homestay is available and reserved. If you have any questions about living with an American family, you can contact the Housing Coordinator.

HOMESTAY

Residence Club Accommodations

When you choose to live in a Residence Club you will enjoy an independent living situation with an international atmosphere, dormitory-style housing and meal options or shared kitchen. Residence clubs also provide an opportunity to get to know students and travelers from all over the world.

Independent Housing Options

You can reserve your own accommodation, and there is a lot of choice! A Stafford House staff member has visited all of these places and we think they are great value and close to Stafford House. You can find more information about reservations on their websites. You must reserve them directly- we cannot book these for you.

Meet our team

All of our teachers hold teaching qualifications ranging from certificate to diploma level and are committed to continuous development and share our passion for learning with our students.

  • Andrea Moran

    Student Services Manager

I love learning about different cultures and helping international students learn about life in San  Francisco. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I’ve traveled to over 20 countries, taught English in Chile, and worked in international education for many years before coming to Stafford House. I plan the school’s activities, and can help you with F-1 visa questions, program extensions, transfers, and any other questions students have about life here. Welcome!

  • Cynthia Chin

    Student Advisor

Cynthia is a Student Advisor and helps San Francisco students with their housing. She has lived and worked in the UK and South Korea and enjoys learning about different cultures. She is also a Lay's enthusiast and would love to answer all your burning questions about the potato chip varieties.

  • Emily Resnevic

    Assistant Director of Studies

I have taught general, professional, and test prep English to students of all levels. I started teaching in Prague, Czech Republic, and I have also taught English at Stafford House Boston, where I was also a university counselor. I studied Creative Non-Fiction Writing at Emerson College and have also worked as a reporter. I love to help students with their writing, grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary, and I strive to make class a fun and productive atmosphere of growth.

  • Jenefer Johnson

    Center Director

Jenefer has been the Center Director in San Francisco since 2013. Her previous experiences include teaching and developing English language curriculums. She is passionate about making her school reflect the diverse and tech savvy city of San Francisco.

  • Joy Suzuki

    Director of Studies

My passion for learning languages is what led me into the field of international education. After studying French and Spanish in high school and college and traveling around Europe, I spent 2 years living and working in Japan as an EFL teacher, so I understand first-hand just how rewarding and life-changing an experience crossing cultures can be.

I’ve worked in many different capacities in international education for over 20 years: ESL/EFL teaching and tutoring, coordinating and marketing educational travel programs, counseling and advising international students, and leading the ESL department at an international school. I’m excited to be a part of the Stafford House team in my role as Director of Studies, supporting teachers and helping students have the cross-cultural experience of a lifetime.

I would recommend Stafford House to my friends. When I arrived in San Francisco, I had many meetings and presentations. With One-to-One English classes, I could make completely tailor made classes according to my needs and objectives. All my teachers were so prepared. In my case, I could identify the specific pronunciation and grammar to improve my presentations and meetings. The classes have helped me with my goals!
